Solemnity of Our Lady of the Rosary’s Patron’s Feast Day
Saturday, October 9th , at 4:00 pm and Sunday, October 10th at all the masses.
The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary was established by Pope Pius V to
celebrate the anniversary of the great naval victory by the Christian fleet at
Lepanto on October 7, 1571.
It was originally called” Our Lady of Victory,” as it was attributed to the help
of our Mother whose aid was invoked through praying the Rosary.
Pope Saint John Paul II said, “The Rosary is a way of contemplating the ‘face
of Christ,’ seeing him – we may say – ‘with the eyes of Mary.’ I am thinking of
nations and also of families. How much peace would flow into family
relationships if the family would begin again to pray the Rosary.” Angelus, June
2002.
The Feast is a great festival of thanksgiving for the overflowing benefits
upon Christians through the Rosary of our blessed Queen. It has been revealed by Mary to many people that each time they say a Hail Mary, they are giving her a beautiful rose, and that each complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses. In
every apparition, our Heavenly Mother invites us to say the Rosary as a powerful
weapon against evil, to bring us to true and holy peace.

First Reading IS 61:9-11 Their offspring shall be renowned among the nations,

my being exults in my God;
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation,
and wrapped me in a robe of justice,
Like a bridegroom adorned with a diadem,
as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. g
As the earth brings forth its shoots,
and a garden makes its seeds spring up,
So will the Lord GOD make justice spring up,
and praise before all the nations.

Reading 2 Acts 1:12-14
After Jesus had been taken up into heaven,
the Apostles returned to Jerusalem
from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem,
a sabbath day's journey away.
When they entered the city
they went to the upper room where they were staying,
Peter and John and James and Andrew,
Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew,
James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot,
and Judas son of James.
All these devoted themselves with one accord to prayer,
together with some women,
and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
Gospel Lk 2:15-20
When the angels went away from them to heaven,
the shepherds said to one another,
“Let us go, then, to Bethlehem
to see this thing that has taken place,
which the Lord has made known to us.”
So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph,
and the infant lying in the manger.
When they saw this,
they made known the message
that had been told them about this child.
All who heard it were amazed
by what had been told them by the shepherds.
And Mary kept all these things,
reflecting on them in her heart.
