Diocese To Host Discussion with Father James Martin on LGBTQ+ Persons and the Church
LEXINGTON — LGBT Ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Lexington and Fortunate Families, in coordination with other partners, will present a conversation with Jesuit Father James Martin about LGBTQ+ persons and the Catholic Church. The conversation will take place via Zoom on Monday, March 29, from 7:30-10 p.m. Eastern.
Father Martin is editor at large at America, the New York-based Jesuit media apostolate. He is the author of numerous books, including “Learning to Pray: A Guide for Everyone,” “My Life with the Saints,” “The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything,” and “Building a Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion and Sensitivity.”
The discussion “will be a time to dream and envision a Church where, truly all are welcome and in which every LGBTQ+ person has a seat at the table and voice,” said JR Zerkowski of diocesan LGBT Ministry. The Catholic Diocese of Lexington covers 50 counties in central and eastern Kentucky, with 59 parishes and missions serving some 46,000 Catholics.
