LEXINGTON, Apr. 25, 2022: Kyle Lee, Ed.D. will be the new Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky, beginning July 1, 2022. Currently, Dr. Lee is Principal at Seton Catholic School in Lexington.
He succeeds Tom Brown, who has served as Superintendent since 2018 and guided the Diocesan Catholic Schools Office through the challenges of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Originally hired as an Interim Superintendent, we thank Tom for his generosity in serving and for his steady leadership. Tom’s last day in the Catholic Schools Office will be July 15. Before becoming principal at Seton, Dr. Lee had worked as Academic Standards Coordinator at the Kentucky Department of Education – Office of Teaching and Learning in Frankfort, and Administrative Dean at STEAM Academy in Lexington. His background also includes sixteen years of educational service as an elementary school principal and classroom teacher in both Kentucky and Tennessee. Dr. Lee serves as an adjunct professor at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky, and Anderson University in Greenville, South Carolina. He received his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Kentucky, Rank I Superintendent Certification from the University of Kentucky, Masters’ in Educational Administration from the University of the Cumberlands, and Bachelors’ in Music Education from Morehead State University. Through sustained scholarship, consultation, and study, Dr. Lee continues his contribution to the field of education and academics through publication and research studies. His recent publications include a book chapter in the School Library Management text titled, The Natural Leadership Role of the School Librarian, and a co-authored book chapter titled, The True Focus for First Year Principals, in The Leader Reader: Narratives of Experience, a school leadership preparation textbook. Through his continued consultation work, Dr. Lee recently partnered with the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) to develop Powerful Instructional Practices and revised academic standards for the Hawaii Department of Education. An active Catholic and current parishioner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Dr. Lee understands and values the benefits of living a life centered on the teachings of Christ. He resides in Versailles, Kentucky with his wife, Emily, and four children: Michael, Christopher, Joseph, and Elizabeth.
