On Thursday BUILD is hosting a car rally at MQHR parking lot, 7 PM. We are inviting the city council and the media. The purpose of this action is to show the city that cutting social services, particularly cutting the affordable housing fund by $1.8 M down to $200,000 does not represent our value of caring for the least among us. There are 4 projects in the pipeline and this $200,000 added to the $400,000 that returns to the fund through interest paid by earlier projects will be enough to fund only one of them.
We met with Rick McQuady who directs this program and we asked who has received housing because of the fund. He said people who would be homeless otherwise, seniors, veterans, victims of domestic abuse, low income, etc. This fund has had $11M put in by the city and has leveraged $141M in affordable housing! How can we afford to not fund this, it brings so much good and $, stability and hope to our city?
Make a sign if you can to display at the Rally. We will stay in our cars so it is safe. See you at 7, this TH, May 21 at the MQ parking lot!!

You will put your address in and it will show you who those people are for you. This will help BUILD tailor our messages to specific council and school board members when that would be more effective.
So, here is the link to the Justice Ministry Network Member Questionnaire that will sign you up for the newsletter and connect you with your council members.
