Webinar Offers Response to Suicide for a Catholic Audience
LEXINGTON — A new webinar shows the role that faith communities can play in suicide prevention and postvention. “Responding to Suicide: A Skills Based Approach” can be found on the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention’s website. It presents a response to suicide for a Catholic audience in advance of the National Weekend of Prayer for Faith, Hope and Life, May 14-16.
In the webinar, Melinda Moore, the Action Alliance’s private sector co-lead, leads a discussion with Deacon Ed Shoener of the Diocese of Scranton, Pa., and Dr. Chris Miller, who serves on the Action Alliance’s Faith Communities Task Force. Moore is an associate professor of psychology at Eastern Kentucky University and a parishioner at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Lexington.
The National Weekend of Prayer for Faith, Hope and Life is a campaign that invites communities of faith to pray for people touched by suicide. Information on the weekend, as well as additional resources, can be found online: https://theactionalliance.org/faith-hope-life/national-weekend-of-prayer
