Lent is here and each one of our parishes has the opportunity to participate in the vital CRS Rice Bowl campaign. This is a sure and simple way to practice prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as well as a special time to call to mind the Seven Themes of Catholic Social Teaching.
The Office of Peace and Justice invites each of you to participate and promote this Rice Bowl effort. Here are a few simple ways to get involved:
- Speak about the Rice Bowl initiative before or after Mass and make sure each household has theirs
- Highlight themes of Catholic Social Teaching in your preaching
- Share Rice Bowl promotional materials on your personal and ministry social media accounts (like this video!)
- Focus your parish activity during Lent on connecting the Rice Bowl action with both Catholic Social Teaching and prayer.
- During the Prayer of the Faithful, pray for the needs of the poor and marginalized struggling with malnutrition.
