Thank you for the glorious gift of the earth, especially our own little piece of it!
And so begins the prayer we wrote using Pope Francis’ words from Laudato Si'. Laudato Si’ Week 2021, May 16-25, is the crowning event of the Special Laudato Si’ Anniversary Year, and a celebration of the great progress the whole Church has made on its journey to ecological conversion.
Laudato Si’ Week 2021 is also a time to reflect on what the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us and prepare for the future with hope. The Laudato Si Commission of the Diocese of Lexington would like to share some resources for parishes, schools, Care of Creation Teams and parents, which will help in this quest.
One simple thing is to pray the prayer (English or Spanish) taken from the words of Pope Francis in Laudato Si', that the Commission shared for Earth Day at Mass next Sunday.
