Bishop Announces New Pastors, First Post-Ordination Assignment for Ronald Sagum, Retirement of Father Michael Weglicki
LEXINGTON — The weekend of April 17-18 saw the announcements of new pastors in eight parishes and missions of the Catholic Diocese of Lexington, as well as the first assignment for Ronald Sagum following his ordination to the priesthood later this spring. The assignments, made by Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv. of Lexington, are effective on July 1. They are:
Father Mark Ouma will become pastor of Queen of All Saints in Beattyville and its mission of Holy Family in Booneville. He succeeds Father John Lijana, who was previously announced as the new pastor of Good Shepherd in Frankfort.
Also on July 1, The Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary will take up residence at Sacred Heart in Corbin. Father Damian Anumba, MSSCC, will become the pastor of Sacred Heart, and Father Prashanth Lobo, MSSCC, will become pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Williamsburg and St. Boniface in Jellico.
Father Michael Weglicki, pastor of Sacred Heart in Corbin and St. Boniface in Jellico, will begin his retirement and offer sacramental ministry at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Lexington.
Father Jesuraj Maria Salethu, HGN, currently pastor in Williamsburg, will become pastor of Sts. John and Elizabeth in Grayson and Prince of Peace in West Liberty. He succeeds Father Michael Flanagan, who was previously announced as the new pastor of St. Michael's in Paintsville.
Father Aldrin Tayag will become pastor of St. Luke in Nicholasville. He succeeds Father John Moriarty, who will become rector of the Cathedral of Christ the King.
After his ordination to the priesthood, Father Ronald Sagum will become parochial vicar at Holy Spirit Parish/UK Newman Center in Lexington.
