He is Risen! Alleluiah! Alleluiah!
To the People of God of the Catholic Diocese of Lexington, KY, we hope this finds you well during this wonderful Easter Season! May the Risen Christ inspire us all as we see the beauty in the Spring all around us!
Thursday, April 22, the whole world will celebrate Earth Day! Pope Francis has written a wonderful encyclical “On Care for Our Common Home: Laudato Si' and has challenged us to begin to see the earth as our garden home again and to open our eyes to the gifts we have here in our own diocese. Below you will find links to things you can do to celebrate and praise what God has provided us here in this diocese. Would you take a few minutes to look through what we’ve provided? There are programs and ideas as well as a diocesan prayer that we ask you to pray throughout the week from Sunday, April 18-Sunday, April 25. Would you include this in your bulletin? We are celebrating Earth Week and in this email are some suggestions for that prayer. Let us know what you are doing in your parishes, please!

In our diocese:
The Catholic Diocese of Lexington Earth Day prayer to be prayed the week of April 18-25:
Creator God,
Thank you for the glorious gift of the earth, especially our own little piece of it! The entire material universe speaks of Your love, Your boundless affection for us. Soil, water, mountains: everything is, as it were, a caress of God. Help us to share our intimate connection and Care of our Common Home through care of creeks and mountains, meadows and forests. Help us to share our relationships and knowledge so that all may partake of the gracious bounty that You have given us. Awaken our memories to those places where revisiting them is a chance to recover something of our true selves in You, our God. For we all remember places, and revisiting those memories does us much good; especially those of us who have grown up in the hills or used to sit by the spring to drink, or played outdoors in the neighborhood square. Going back to those places is a chance to recover something of our true selves. May we continue to cultivate this great love revealed into us in your creation and in those places in our memories. In your Holy name we pray! Amen
