We learned today that a group of public school districts, led by Warren County and Frankfort Independent, have filed a lawsuit in an attempt to strike down Kentucky’s new educational choice law (House Bill 563) before parents can apply for financial assistance.
It is unfortunate that opponents of educational choice have launched this lawsuit. While recent legal precedent gives us hope that Kentucky courts will ultimately side with parents, we lament the anxiety that this will cause them as they try to plan for their children’s education.
We will provide updates as this lawsuit proceeds. In the meantime, this is an opportunity for you to speak up. This lawsuit is about more than abstract legal principles. It is about real parents trying to do what is best for their children. We want to make sure that the focus remains on families over the coming months as the litigation over House Bill 563 proceeds
