The BUILD Community Problems Assembly is Monday, Nov. 4, 7 PM at Consolidated Baptist Church (1625 Russell Cave Rd.) We will carpool from MQ at 6. We need drivers as well as riders.
This meeting is for all of our Justice Ministry Network members (JMNs). At this gathering all JMNs will get a vote on the issue we will work on in the coming year. We are continuing the work on transportation and eldercare. The issues that we will choose from are:
Housing as it relates to code enforcement and rentals
Housing, from homelessness to affordability of home ownership
Addiction/drugs
As you can see, housing is a big concern in Lexington. From homelessness spanning to home ownership in one issue vote, and the lack of quality in rentals another vote. Please consider when voting what your concern is. We are a bit concerned about the housing vote being split by needs as listed being so diverse and addiction/drugs will win by default, not because it was the top vote. If it is the top vote that is great, but it should win because it is most important.
Bishop John will give the Opening Reflection at the CPA on the importance of voting and public engagement as an expression of our faith. Very appropriate the night before the election!
Anyone can attend, but only JMNs can vote. For more information and to get involved in BUILD contact Kabby ([email protected].)
